Before performing the update , the iPhone , iPad or iPod touch yours have a battery life of not less than 50 % and is connected to a Wi- Fi network . What is important , make sure you also have to synchronize the data in iCloud for updates in case a failure of iOS 8 . You just need to make sure the iCloud backup is active , check the Settings - > iCloud - > Storage - > Backup in the ON state . Next you can follow the steps below .
  • Connect the iOS device to the computer via a data cable
  • Open iTunes
  • For iTunes 11.4 , go to the File menu - > Devices - > Back Up . Then click on the Back Up " Manually Back Up and Restore "
  • For iTunes 10.7 , right click on your iOS device and choose Back Up
  • You can monitor the backup process on the screen and wait until the backup process is complete
  • Currently available updates will appear update availability notification . After the update is available , then click on " Download and Update " and wait until the process is complete .

iTunes doesnt recognize your device or says its in recovery mode. You see the Apple logo onscreen
for several minutes with no progress bar.

When this occurs, the progress bar might be moving very slowly or seem like it isnt moving. Let the device complete the update, restore, or erase process. The progress bar shows installation progress. The amount of time depends on the number of files on the device and whether youre erasing, updating, or upgrading your iOS. This process can take as little as a minute if your device has little or no data or if youre erasing the device. If your device contains a large number of files, the process can take from several minutes to an hour.

  • Turn off your device and leave it off. 
  •  in your devices USB cable to a computer with iTunes. 
  •  Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. 
  • Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
